Employee IAM-ISRS Interface is Ready for Testing

The technology components that will pass data between ISRS and IAM systems have been developed and are ready for testing. The purpose of the interface technology is to monitor key ISRS data and generate events, in near real-time, when that data changes or new data is created. These events are associated with a particular person or account and they tell the IAM system to update existing StarID accounts or create new ones. The data coming to the IAM system from ISRS is used to grant or restrict access to applications and services across the system based on new business logic that makes use of system-wide definitions of employee affiliations.

Finally, the IAM-ISRS interface technology will make the same data available, via the Operational Data service, to support specific campus business needs. To learn more about the IAM-ISRS Interface design, contact Todd Piket (todd.piket@csu.mnscu.edu), Middleware Technical Architect, or David Purcell (david.purcell@csu.mnscu.edu), ISRS Enterprise Architect.

StarID Supports StarLAN Service

StarLAN, the first service that uses StarID for login, has launched. StarLAN is designed to provide visiting employees and students access to the Internet through a basic wireless service. Today, this service is available at Inver Hills Community College and at two locations of the Office of the Chancellor: Wells Fargo Place and Minneapolis Community and Technical College (Harmon Place).

If you would like to use StarLAN you may request a StarID through this web site or the StarID Help Desk. More information can be found on the FAQ page.

StarIDs are Ready for a Growing Group of Users

StarIDs are now available for a growing number of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities employees. This includes some Office of the Chancellor employees, college and university Chief Information Officers (CIOs), and visiting employees who use StarLAN. More users are added every week.
